Saying Goodbye to Massage

6/18/2017

Ever since I started working as a Massage Therapist (and specifically when I came back to it after having the last of my children), I knew that this career had a shelf life. While there are some Massage Therapists that work for decades (still not sure how), it's an industry with a high injury/burnout rate. Over the last year I've been experiencing a loss of grip strength in my hands and numbness in my forearms and hands. This is on top of the regular neck and back pain that I have become "normal" over the past few years. I've also been dropping things more than usual. Then a month ago, I developed a tremor in my left hand.

I was forced to face the fear of giving up a large part of my business and potentially say goodbye to some great clients. I was finally able to put my health above my fear last week when I made the decision not to continue with Massage Therapy.

So, what does this mean for you?

If you are a Facial/Waxing/Body Treatment Client, nothing will change. I will continue to offer these services and am grateful for your business! In fact, you'll likely have more options for appointment times during the short term.

If you are a Massage Client of mine, first I want to say thank you for allowing me to work on you over the past few years. Many of you have been very faithful supporters of mine and I am extremely grateful. Going forward,
  • Any appointments you have already scheduled through the end of June will still be honored.
  • I will also honor any outstanding Gift Certificates written specifically for massage.
  • I will no longer schedule any new massages and have removed it from online scheduling.
If you are looking for a new clinical/medical Massage Therapist (chronic pain, headaches, etc.) I would like to recommend Raechel Haller with Massage Sci. She's located in Holland on Hoover Blvd (between 8th and 16th Streets).

If you are looking for full body relaxation massage, there are many practitioners in the West Michigan area that would be suitable. I drive into Grand Rapids every other week to get a massage at
Urban Massage and recommend many of the therapists there.

If your needs still align with the services I offer, I am so thrilled and look forward to seeing you again soon. If you are only interested in Massage Therapy, I want to thank you and wish you well in finding another therapist that will suit your needs.

I'm ready to move forward and devote more of my energy on Skin Care and Life Coaching. I am thankful for you and your support.
